Editing a routine exercise

Reached by tapping an exercise inside a routine, this is where you set exactly what that exercise asks of you — its sets, its rep range, and how it behaves during a workout.

For a strength exercise, each row under Sets is one set: check Warm-up to mark it as a warm-up (excluded from progressive overload and from the app's rep/weight guidance), and enter its weight and reps directly. + Add set appends another row; removes one. Below the set list, Rep min / Rep max set the target range progressive overload works within, Target RIR sets how many reps in reserve you're aiming to leave on working sets, and Rest (sec) sets the rest timer between sets. Ask for RIR on this exercise overrides your global RIR-prompt preference just for this exercise — leave it on Inherit to follow your app-wide setting.

Cardio exercises show a different editor: Mode (steady or interval) and Location (treadmill or outdoor/GPS), an optional MET if you want to override the automatic calorie estimate, and a target time or distance for the session. Interval mode adds Segments — each with its own minutes, speed, and incline — so you can lay out a structured interval session in advance; + Add segment appends another.

Notes on either editor are optional and yours alone — a place for cues or reminders that show up next to this exercise during your workout.

Tap Done to return to the routine with your changes applied — nothing publishes to your watch until you save the routine itself.
